Spanish
Navy,
was
dock
in
Antwerp
for
the
first
time
in
2017.
The
Tall
Ship
was
docked
at
Quay
19
from
Wednesday
June
28th
until
Monday
July
3rd.
Juan
Sebastian
de
Elcano
was
festively
welcomed
to
the
city
by
the
Belgian
Navy.
On
Friday,
Saturday
and
Sunday
the
ship
was
also
opened
to
the
public.
Originally
the
ship
would
have
been
called
Minerva
(which
explains
the
statue
of
the
goddess
on
the
bow)
but
King
Alfonso
XIII
of
Spain
decided
to
name
the
ship
after
the famous Spanish explorer.
